I have been in a pretty good groove right now of healthy eating and consistent exercise. Spring Break and being on the beach in a bathing suit always adds that extra bit of motivation I need to really get my a** in gear and hopefully in shape!
I am SO looking forward to a week in Mexico with the hubby and kids where we can relax and enjoy the lack of schedule and each others company. However, as I sit on the plane sandwiched between my two kids I am crafting a plan to not do what I do EVERY. SINGLE. TRIP. That is undo about 96 days of clean eating with 6 days lounging beach and poolside. I have decided on a few things that I will not let slide this trip. Nothing that will hinder my trip by any means but little things that I know will personally keep me on track. Things that will allow me to jump right back in where I left off when I return , rather than feeling depressed and longing for sunsets on the beach for another week upon arrival home. Here are my NON NEGOTIABLES: 1. HYDRATE-Although I am sure I will be plenty hydrated with poolside margaritas, I am making a commitment to drink at least half my body weight in water each day. It's amazing how different your body feels and responds when you are properly hydrated. I am relentless with myself and my family when it comes to drinking water, especially while traveling. 2. VITAMINS/SUPPLEMENTS-I packed my MultiVitamin, Fish Oil supplement, Magnesium and my Betacol (a little extra help to process those margaritas...LOVE THIS STUFF). I swear I feel like I can run a marathon sometimes in the morning after a night when I typically should feel like I need a Portillos run). I will take these daily on my vacation. 3. EXERCISE-I have never been one to put in a hard core workout on vacation but I do like to do something everyday. I have tons of workout apps on my phone so I am going to commit to get up and at very least do a few rounds of my 7 Minute Workout. Some days it might just be 7 minutes. Do I think this is helping me counteract all of the chips and guacamole I will be indulging in? More than likely NOT but it does help me to stay in some sort of routine and it mentally feels good to break a sweat, even if for 7 minutes. 4. SLEEP-I often don't sleep well in hotel rooms so I am trying to tackle this from every angle because this girl needs her sleep...just ask kids and husband. Sleep is a must. I have my lavender essential oil (huge DoTerra fan) and Magnesium supplement to help me get those extra zz's I usually lack on vacation. May be challenging with all 4 of us in close quarters but this should help! I hope you all enjoy your spring break either home with kids or on vacation. Come up with your list of non negotiables. Incorporate these small healthy changes into your vacation and your everyday life. The small things really do make a difference. I promise you. xoxo, Jen

It is essential to make sure you are getting probiotics into your diet either naturally through food or through supplementation. Probiotics are the good bacteria that line your gut that support your body's ability to absorb nutrients and fight infection. Probiotics are not only essential for gut health and improving digestion. They are important for balancing your mood, energy levels, skin health, supporting immune function and more. When bad bacteria takes over the the good bacteria in your gut serious health issues may arise. According to Dr. Axe more than 40 diseases have been linked to bacterial imbalance in the gut such as depression, arthritis, IBS and cancer. Imbalance in gut can be caused by several things. A huge one being antibiotics. As little as one round of antibiotics can throw off the balance of good bacteria in your gut. I always make sure my kids take their probiotics after a round of antibiotics to restore the balance of good and bad bacteria. Some other causes of imbalance are:

AuthorI love sharing my knowledge of clean food and healthy living. It's not as overwhelming as people think it is. I am not about eating salads 24/7. Anyone who knows me knows I don't really deprive myself. Through trial and error I learned what works for me, my body and most importantly my sanity. Archives
